Cabrillo Music, Art & Wine fest This Weekend!

And yes, the Chickenpants will be there.
http://tiny.cc/1nrk9
I'm working harder than a one legged guy in a butt kicking contest (as a certain friend's dad would say). Hence the total absence of blog posts, etc...
All this time spent stuffing goats and dogs and bunnies(!) has led me to think, hey, you know what would be great? A business partner! Or at least someone to handle the marketing...I'm going a little nuts all by myself. (See the lack of a CP Adventure movie this month, as well as the lack of a CP Limited print...wait, why am I telling you this?)
*ahem* So...Come see me in Santa Cruz at the Cabrillo thing this weekend!
And here are the promised better photos of the CP Ninjapants. I'm happy to say these two have already found homes (thanks, guys!), and more are on the way.
Sho Ninjapants

"The Paw" Ninjapants

Not a Ninjapants at all! But a rather cute little bird named Victoria. She's new in the shop.

Ninjapants!

The deadliest Chickenpants ever!
The funny thing is, when I picked up the Chikin in a Biskit @ the grocery store, Dan was beyond horrified. 'You're not going to eat that, are you?' I wasn't going to, but now I'm intruiged.
Better photos to follow!

Chickenpants News!

First off, I'd like to mention that all regular Chickenpants have been numbered. I felt the need to have some sort of way to keep a record of all of them...it's getting to where I simply can't remember each and every one. (I'm sorry, guys!)
So they've been roughly numbered according to the order they were made in. Of course, since I'm back tracking (and have the aforementioned bad memory), the numbers are not 100% exactly consecutive, but they're close enough. (Grand total as of right now: 80 regular sized CPs have been made. Whoa!)

And! Since they're all numbered, I thought it would be nice to put together a sort of "Chickenpants Hall of Fame"- a place online to record every single Chickenpants, in order (more or less), where you can leave comments, too. It would be fun to find out what became of them, don't you think? That'll be appearing on Flickr in the very near future...I'll keep you posted!

And in the meantime, if you happen to have a (regular size) Chickenpants and would like to know it's number, just leave a comment for me here (or shoot an email to absolutelysmall {at} gmail.com) and I'll send you your number.
*note that only the regular 7"-ish Chickenpants are being numbered...there's no keeping track of those other guys!"
Whew! I think that's it for the inner workings of Chickenpants news.
If you're still with me, allow me to share two new Chickenpants in Space:

Chickenpants in Space 2002 loves apples. He probably shouldn't, seeing as how they tend to gum up his inner workings, but oh! You just can't reason with love. (He's number 72!)

Chickenpants in Space 2222 is not a Replicant. Why would you think she is a Replicant? She is 100% pure chicken, buster. (She's number 67!)

Thanks for reading! I'm hoping to have more CPs in the shop later this week. (Including one or two with suntans!)

SF Zine Fest Recap

Annnnd we're back!
SF Zine Fest was really fun. It was really inspiring to be in a room packed with so many creative and talented people. It reminded me that oh, hey, shouldn't I be like, drawing or something? Hmmm.
Our table was right next to Motormouth Press, who makes the most adorable letterpress stationery. And she was super nice!
Alex was kind enough to lend us his camera so we could take a few snapshots. (I was to lazy to lug the D50 around this weekend.)
(There's more on my Flickr site, if you're so inclined.)
Some random highlights of the weekend:
Isby Blue coming by our table with her whole brood. (And some of the brood wanted to have their photo taken with me! Whoa!)
Getting to meet Vanessa Davis...and then later, she came by my table, and liked my work. (Again, whoa!)
Telling Mike Hales I was afraid of the 500+ pages of pure crap required before you make any decent comics, and him saying "Oh, 30 pages or so of crap should be enough." So encouraging! I think that alone might have me drawing again.
Francois dragging me up to read numbers for the raffle. Thanks Francois!
All in all, quite the fun weekend!

SF Zine Fest

Greetings from an insomniac!
I have two blurry, exciting bits of news tonight:
1. This weekend I'll be at the SF Zine Fest with all my creatures...including
(exciting bit #2) new blind box goodies!
Here's a peek at some of what went into the boxes:

If you're in the area, I hope you can swing by. It's in the County Fair Building in Golden Gate Park. (July 19 & 20th, 11-8) Should be a pretty fun show! Here's the link again for directions and further incentives to go. ^-^

Introducing the Chickenpants Limited for July!

Ta Da! Here there be Chickenpants, climbing the Crane Tree, looking for the perfect place to build their fort. (Not nest. Nests are for girls!)
I call this one "Shaking the Tree".

I'm really happy with how the colors in this print turned out. They remind me so much of photographs from the 70's/ early 80's - in other words, childhood memories.
I used to pour over family albums for hours when I was a kid...so those strange orangey color schemes are firmly planted in my mind.

Naturally, it's in the shop!

A little in love...

with this artist's work.

But I am really captivated by her Flickr stream- she lives in New York City with *four!* incredibly cute pups. It's just reminding me that life can be designed how you like it. Her paintings remind me that it is great to be an artist. Fun, remember that? I sometimes forget. ^-^
Anyway, check out her work if you need an inspiration boost.

Two new Chickenpants to share!

Here's two of the latest Chickenpants. I singled these two fellas out because each one turned out a bit different than the average Chickenpants. I couldn't be more pleased- odd is what I look for in my own (and everyone else's) work.

Meet Noah. Noah's a body builder. The other Chickenpants speculate that he's so obsessed with developing muscles because he's so short. But Noah's really just into it for the chicks.

And:Pink Eye Willy the Chickenpants Hobo! Did you know that Chickenton has a rail system? You certainly know what happens when you get trains: you also get hobos. Enter Pink Eye Willy Chickenpants.
When not riding the rails, he steals pies off of unwary windowsills.
True to his hobo nature, he has a patched trouser leg. You can barely see it due to all the hobo magic.

Snippet

Me: "Edward Norton as the Hulk? But he's a slimy little weasel! He's too little to be the Hulk!"
Him: "But the Hulk on the tv series was a smallish guy. That's the point."
Me: "Are you saying you like Edward Norton?"
Him: "I don't bear him any ill-will. And he was in something where he was good. What was that?"
Me: "The Slimy Little Weasel Variety Hour. He was awesome in that."
Him: "OK, I'm IMDB-ing it."

Thanks!

Seriously guys, thanks for all your kind comments back on my last, rather downer-ish post. I wish I could repay your kindness by saying "Hey, I'm feeling great now!" but, alas, I still have a little ways to go before that happens.
So, in the meantime, let me share with you THE COOLEST THING EVER!
I received an original work of art in the mail featuring one of my all time favorite subjects...Chickenpants! It was created by one very talented six year old named Matilda. I have a hard time putting into words just how awesome I find this, so maybe you should just take a look:

The girl Chickenpants on tambourine! The plugged in guitar! Is that a tattoo I spy on the drummer Chickenpants' arm? (I also uploaded this to Flickr, so you can see it larger to appreciate the awesomeness.)
Thank you, Matilda!

This may be the cutest thing ever. EVER!

A dramatic reading of James Kochalka's kids book "Johnny Boo".

Holy mackerel, those are some adorable voices!
