There's a Chinese kid's movie called CJ7 where the main character takes care of this pet alien dog. The little dog looks a lot like your pom pom headed creations. I squeed when I saw it :).
That is so weird! I'd never even heard of that movie until I started doing shows in LA. (Out of touch northerner here) I still haven't seen it, but I've seen pictures. I'm totally embarrased by how much he looks like my creatures. ^-^
