- Of course, the time honored Granny Square is an excellent way to use up a stash. The Purl Bee has an excellent tutorial, jam packed with lovely photos:
- Knit this lace scarf, using up 3 or 4 colors.
- Of course, you could just skip all that hooking and knitting, and skip right to decoration. Apartment Therapy has some cute ideas:
(Of course, they're billing the above as "storage" as well. Um...sure. That's one way to store things, I guess...)
- This Knit Pincushion by Craft Leftovers is an awesome way to use up all those tiny bits:
AND you can even use different weights and textiles together. Score!
- Another idea for decoration: scrap yarn wrapped branches
Great tutorial with lots and lots of yummy photos. Plus, she links to several other really neat projects!
I feel like we've barely scratched the surface of what's possible with leftover yarn. What do you like to do with yours?

I share it with members of my faith community and we knit and crochet 7"x9" rectangles with our leftovers. Then we fashion them into blankets (two different sizes) for homeless or abused women and their children in our community. Sometimes the rectangles are so darn ugly, however, I can't put them in a blanket for humans. Then I wait until I get enough "uglies" and make a blanket for a cat or dog, then donate it to the local pound.
do you have any others?
I'm sure there are tons of other ways to use up leftover yarn. Maybe I should do a follow up post... (Still on maternity leave, so it'll be a little while!)
That's awesome! Thank you for sharing! ^_^
