- 21:45 New item hearts: 6. Total sales: 2 (One was from a dear friend though. The other was not a featured item.)
- 21:47 Can't wait to look at the Google analytics data tomorrow. I'm an Etsy nerd!
- 21:52 AND: I relisted 7 times in the last 24 hours. 3 new items today, also.
- 21:56 Showcase verdict: Probably not all that helpful. Putting the energy into promoting your shop is what actually counts, and this could help.
- 22:07 That is it for tonight. Have a great weekend, everyone!

Organization tips from Fluffy Flowers!
Hello! I have for you something quite nice. Not only is it a real blog post, it's written by someone else. (Or maybe that's just quite nice for me.)
As you may know, I've been working on getting organized in all aspects of my life. A fellow plushier who I admire has been kind enough to share some of her tips with us!
Felicia (of Felicia's Fluffy Flowers) is not only a talented crafter, she also seems to have it all together. Her blog regularly features charming home improvements as well as charming creations. Without any further ado, here are her tips!
Less Stuff
The one major thing you can do to stay organized is to have less stuff. And there are two easy ways to accomplish this.
Send it on it's way
Are your bills late because you can't find them among the clutter of your house? Did you wast money buying something new because you couldn't find that thing that you KNOW you had SOMEWHERE? It's probably time to get a little organized.
First, you've gotta get rid of all the stuff that makes you feel bad. Really. We all have a lot of stuff, right? Some of it we bought because we liked it at the time. Some of it we received as gifts.
If you want to have a happy life and the time to enjoy yourself, then you've got to remove all the stuff that you feel nothing for or that makes you feel guilty and bad when you look at it.
Maybe you got a going away present from your former coworkers and it's some object that really doesn't fit into your life. You don't want to throw it out because a) it was expensive and b) it's sort of cool although you'll never use it. Well, here's a thought, how about giving it away? We don't like the thought of filling up the landfills but what about giving it to charity? That way someone who actually wants that thing will have the chance to own it at a fraction of the retail price.
Would the world end if that object no longer lived in your life? Probably not. Would you feel better about yourself because you don't have to feel guilty anymore when you stumble upon that unused thing in the closet? Probably so. Get rid of it. If something makes you feel bad or guilty then give it away to someone who wants it. That good karma will come back to you in so many ways.
Invite it to come in
Want to know another really easy thing you can do to keep guilt ridden stuff out of your life? Make a list of your favorites. Really.
I love Etsy. Most folks I know understand this about me. So when it comes to gift giving time they go directly to my favorites on Etsy to pick something out that they know I will love.
But I've taken this step even further. I actually have an Etsy account set up just for my family and friends to shop my favorites. That way I can put the stuff that I really want in that account and I use my regular Fluffy Flowers account for my daily fun searching, looking for stuff to put in treasuries, etc.
Make sure your selections include a variety of price points in order to accommodate different budgets. Your family and friends will be so happy to know that they are selecting something that you will like. Plus, it'll still be a surprise when you receive it.
Send that favorites web address out into the world and know that you've just removed most of the ambivalent stuff from your life! From now on only stuff you love will surround and inspire you.

Inspired by Kittens
Shhh, just watch:
(via cute overload!)
This kid is exactly like I was at her age. If I had had access to a digital camera and the interwebs back then, I think this would have been me.
Seeing it brought back flashes of all the things I made my relatives and friends sit through...the puppet shows, the harmonica recitals, the dance routines...
*the shame, it burns!*
(Bonus embarrasing tidbit: I have a clear memory of putting on a puppet show all by myself, with puppets I made myself whilst playing a harmonica to the tune of the Hallelujah Chorus. Yes, I spent LOTS of time alone.)

It's ON!
OK, it may be late on Wednesday, but it's still technically Wednesday in some parts of the world, so here it is, the weekly shop update. And this one's a dilly. (Is that an expression? A dilly? I think I heard it on a MST3K episode once. But I digress.)
Announcing the Absolutely Small Creature Closeout!
All the Poppets, Wee Goats, Lambs and Buns are now on sale. Where once they were $18, now they are but $11! Apparently, I have been watching too much tv with ren-fair-type themes! Huzzah!
Seriously though: as much as I adore the Poppets, Wee Lambs, Goats & Buns, it is just time to make some space for what's to come next. (In my studio and in my mind.) As of NOW, I have officially retired their designs. Snatch 'em up while you still can!
Conveniently enough, they're all in the new Creature Closeout section of the shop.
(And remember: Shipping on the first item is $5, and then only .50 for each additional. That's almost free. Huzzah!)
I still have some on my desk, waiting patiently for their moment in the sun/photo box thing. (Including one pink Wee Bun who you simply have to see!) Expect to see a few new Poppets/WGs/WBs soon-ish!

I can't find my notes
But I made a whole bunch of them! Just for you! Great stuff! About...fresh starts! And getting organized! (Which clearly, I am not. But whooo boy, I got yer fresh starts right here!)
I like to take things that might make me sad or insane and use them as a sort of diving board for fresh clean starts. We've had good shakeups over here lately- the little brother moving out, getting a new dog, eating too much cheese and cup cakes.
For instance: the little brother moves out, taking his mad baking skills with him. This means no more playing games in the afternoon, no more fresh bread and other goodies, and of course, just generally missing his company. This also means that his room and bathroom are now EMPTY and fair game. Yay!
I haven't really been able to work creatively or otherwise since we moved to this tiny place. My studio was way too cramped. The fresh start is taking over his room as the new studio! And converting the old studio into an office. Ahhhh, space! How I've missed you!
Of course, this isn't anywhere near done yet, and all this moving stuff around is the reason I can't find my notes.
This is a long winded way of saying that every fresh start is built from chaos. Embrace it, roll around in it, and keep moving forward.

- 10:01 I'm all caught up on my books! ...For July. *sigh* This is what happens when you only add up your receipts twice a year.
- 10:50 OK, and there goes August. Whoo! No more for today please, my brain is melting.

My favorite room
My favorite room in this house is the tiny Chickenpants kitchen I set up with Re-Ment miniatures. It's in the studio, and it's the only pulled together room in the whole house.

- 08:40 Nnnghhh! *focusing energy on getting well for Indie Sac this weekend*
- 08:59 But ok, seriously: focusing on getting well means I should do what? Probably starts with getting off the computer.
- 15:51 Attempting to make soup with what's on hand: potatoes, onions, red curry paste, tofu, etc. We'll see.

- 10:33 I just called Buster "Chuck" on accident. Guess who's reading Dooce with a head cold?

Chickenpants & Indie Sacramento This Saturday!!

If you're in the Sacramento-ish area, come on by! I'll be there with Chickenpants apletny, and perhaps some of the new Bad Dog paintings (assuming I can fit them onto a 6' table...which let's face it, probably won't happen, but, you know, I might have them with me.)
I think most of the proceeds from this show will go towards getting Buster fixed. ^_^
